Nearly a year after he missed a court hearing, a former Corpus Christi law firm operator was arrested Tuesday on a warrant out of Zapata County for failure to appear.

Celis faces a perjury charge in Zapata County after testifying in May 2007 during a civil trial that he had a law degree from a Mexican university.
He was convicted in 2009 of falsely holding himself out as a lawyer and was sentenced to 10 years of probation. He appealed that case, but the 13th Court of Appeals upheld the conviction. It currently is under review by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.
