The Port of Corpus Christi is experiencing a significant jump in crude oil exports as the port continues to develop into a collection point for outbound Eagle Ford Shale crude shipments.

In August — the latest figures available — the port logged more than 5.7 million barrels of outbound crude. That monthly figure is about 181 percent of all outbound crude that passed through the port in 2011, figures show.
