Well, who wouldn't dislike a bunch of ignorant racists. Except, the republican establishment courted, fed them and stoked their ignorance and hate. Now, how do you tone that down? Oh, for the days of dog whistles that only the ignorant could hear.All easier said than done, of course.

Tea party types have relished showing the chosen candidates of the Washington establishment a thing or two — and it’s hard to see them laying down arms overnight. But after a sure-bet election in 2012 turned into an electoral disaster, Republicans say resolving their primary problem is, well, their primary problem.

'Their primary problem' is the will of their base. Good luck with that.
