.Charter network IDEA Public Schools is among 16 winners of federal Race to the Top District grants, which will provide more than $29 million for improvements in personalized learning and the use of data.

The announcement marks the largest grant yet made to IDEA, a major recipient of other federal grant programs as well as funding from the Gates Foundation and other private donors.

“People in Washington, D.C., understand not just the great work we’re doing here in the Rio Grande Valley and at IDEA Public Schools but the tremendous need that we have here,” IDEA founder and CEO Tom Torkelson said.

Kill unions. Make teaching even lower paying. Kill public education. Check.
