'Republicans face a balancing act on immigration'

I first noticed republican difficulties during the little George Bush years. Bush wanted to give business cheap, cheap labor and shore up support from Hispanics. Karl Rove knew his demographics. Greedy corporate bastards had a loyal friend in Bush. But, the republican base was far too racist to let Bush work his deal. I posted a lot back then wondering if the greedy corporate bastards or the racist base would win. You know the answer to that. It has only gotten worse in the base since then.

Marco Rubio has been designated the greedy corporate bastard golden boy to bring the Hispanic demographic to heel. Rush Limbaugh seems to be on board with that even as he continues his racist rants, as is Sean Hannity. Is the base stupid enough to fall for this? I wouldn't ever bet against the stupidity of the republican base. Their base seems to fall for the most absurd ploys.
Yet the politics of immigration remain perilous for any Republican. The GOP establishment runs the risk of alienating passionate supporters of hard-line immigration policies. Despite Rubio's well-received outreach to influential conservatives like radio hosts Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, opposition already is forming.

"Rubio's bill is nothing but amnesty," wrote conservative columnist Ann Coulter, referring to it as "a wolf in wolf's clothing."

Republican Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana told radio host Laura Ingraham on Wednesday that his Republican colleague was "amazingly naive on this issue. This is the same old formula that we've dealt with before."
Lets see who falls in line with the greedy corporate bastards and who embraces racism above all.
