But, the republicans do put Hispanics all in one bucket filled with racism. Sure, New York Hispanics have different concerns from Valley Hispanics. Both may have brown skin and that's enough for your Tea Party republican.

Both parties want to appeal to Hispanics like Fischer and Flores Granado. Texas Latinos number 9.5 million and make up 38 percent of the state's population. Their numbers are projected to grow.

But the two Coastal Bend residents show the Hispanic vote isn't monolithic — just as Hispanics aren't.

The republicans want the Hispanic vote. They just want the Hispanics to stay at the back of the bus.
