Covering up for a fellow officer who solicited sex with a minor?

A Corpus Christi police officer linked to a former convicted officer resigned this week while under investigation.

Justyn John Luera, 27, was under investigation by the Police Department after he was accused of hiding a cellphone that belonged to Robert McChester Jr.

McChester, 27, pleaded guilty June 7 to solicitation of a minor by using a telephone and the Internet to coerce and entice a minor to engage in sexual activity. He was sentenced Aug. 30 to 13 years and four months in federal prison.
