NOW, Shands Jacksonville has misplaced some of John's medical records. Attorneys have requested the documents a nurse wrote up when John was admitted to the hospital. These documents gave details of each bruise and injury John had when first admitted. Documents our family viewed. Family members in the medical field. I witnessed his bruises from head to toe, literally. So did many other people.

I find Shands negligent in loosing John's medical records. They are now claiming John had no injuries when he was admitted. Are they covering for JSO? You don't get broken ribs in your back from CPR. Are they covering for the poor medical care John received some days in the hospital? Days he was not turned every two hours unless mom and myself turned him? There were days he would not have been turn once if it hadn't been for mom and myself turning. We had to call nurses to refill his food which had run dry before they would change it. Mom and myself had to clean him at times since nurses did not go into his room for many hours leaving him to sit in feces and urine if the catheter fell off. I learned very quickly how to do things that hospital staff did not get around to doing.

Due to the hospital Social Worker "Shelly" John was denied therapy that Mom repeatedly asked to be done. They refused to do testing Mom asked for to see if he could be taught to eat by mouth or possibly talk. The day John was supposed to come home "Shelly" had not made the order for the hospital bed and equipment Mom and myself would need to care for him at home so Mom spent the morning on the phone trying to get it delivered. She had to be at the hospital by 4:30 p.m. because "Shelly" had to leave by 4:30 p.m. on that particular day. "Shelly" ordered a standard Invacare hospital bed and standard hard hospital mattress, not an air mattress like a person who is in a bed 24 hours a day should have so they do not get bed sores. Mom had to be at the hospital to pick up prescriptions "Shelly" failed to have the doctors write earlier in the week so Mom could have had them at home waiting for John. "Shelly" told the doctor not to give Mom a nebulizer machine and Albuterol nebs although John was on these treatments in the hospital. I rode home with John in the ambulance. We were greeted by the media when we arrived at the house. Mom spent the evening after John was settled in trying to track down liquid Dilantin since that is what John's prescriptions called for. The CVS pharmacists called and got approval for capsules until he could order liquid Dilantin for John. The pharmacist stayed after hours to insure Mom had enough Dilantin to get him settled in until the next day. That's more then I can say for "Shelly" who gave Mom a hard time every chance she got. We feed John Boost Plus threw his feeding tube. He receives all his medications threw his feeding tube.
