The runoff comes despite high-profile support for [House District 43 Republican primary candidate J. M.] Lozano. Since the first-term lawmaker announced his plan to switch to the Republican party, the royalty of the state Republican party — Gov. Rick Perry, Attorney General Greg Abbott and State Comptroller Susan Combs — all have endorsed Lozano.

He received almost $170,000 in donations between April 20 and May 19, almost 10 times that of [Bill T. Wilson II] over the same period.
