Some 37,000 Hidalgo County voters have cast ballots through the first two weeks of early voting, a sum that tops most previous elections with polls still open Friday. While South Texas voters historically vote in big numbers during early voting, Hidalgo County’s 11.9 percent turnout is more than double the state average thus far.Less than 12% is a lot? More on AACT here.
And if the Rio Grande Valley exceeds state turnout in elections this year, it will be in part due to the efforts of AACT Now phone bankers like Kathy Kennedy who have volunteered some nights to encourage people to vote.
